We have less than a month until the launch of The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria! The development team here at Free Range Games is counting down the days until we can share the game with the community.

A select number of participants from our amazing Discord community were able to get a first glimpse of the game in our official Closed Beta. We were blown away by the overwhelmingly positive response and we received some great feedback from participants that we’ll implement for launch and beyond.

Closed Beta participants were given access to half of the square footage and one-third of the storyline of Return to Moria. Within that, participants played for a whopping 659.15 days total, with the average participant playing for about 9 and a half hours within the 2 weeks the Beta took place. The average session duration was 2 hours and 12 minutes, and most people played around 3 PM PST (don’t worry, we won’t tell your bosses).
In that time, players…
Crafted 4,568 iron ingots
Forged 4,440 hammers and axes
Knocked back 461 mugs of ale

There is a lot to discover within the mountain. Only…
39% of players entered the Mines of Moria
32% activated the Great Forge of Narvi
10% opened the Tomb of Durin

The devs recently hosted a Q+A to answer the community's burning questions about the Closed Beta and beyond. Be sure to watch it here:
We look forward to sharing more in the coming weeks.
